Thanks to all who attended last weekend's Class of 64's reunion. It was a great time from beginning to end!

It was terrific seeing and talking with all of you!  What a great, fun time.  To Evie, Bonnie and everyone else who worked to make the 50th Reunion such a success, "Thanks" and "Congratulations" for a job fabulously well done.  By the way, the pill box cracked me up.  See you all at the 55th and some sooner than that since I learned that a number of you are are practically neighbors.  All my best, Ken.

Dear Committee and especially Evie,

Let me join the others in saying you all did a tremendous job to arrange a great time. Well done.

It was also so interesting to see so many old friends and meet a few new ones.

Your efforts were appreciated.

All the best to you and all the class pof 64.

First - a great big THANK YOU to the committee for planning such an awesome weekend event. I am so very glad and grateful that I came in from South Florida to attend this weekend reunion and reconnect with my dear friends. I truly enjoyed myself and was so very impressed with the turnout and the memories. thank you again! Diane

Now that I have a few minutes from jet lag knocking me out, having arrived in Copenhagen early this morning Danish time,  I would like to send a super thanks to Evie and her committee for a fantastic job. It was a wonderful evening and I am glad there were those who spent the last 6 months convincing me to come. Loved the red and white m&m's.  Still eating them.

The elementary lunch table idea was great.  Fun to see so many of us there and Lomond was  well represénted in the evening too.

Interesting comments about Merle Glick.  That man petrified me and I never took his math class.  But years later he and Art Weitzner (who moved into the house next to my parents) used to bring students to Copenhagen.  Met up with them there and the fear disappeared.  My husband and I met with him and his Belgian wife in Cleveland as well. He is a very interesting person.

This is an open invitation to anyone who might be coming this way.  Just let me know. We have plentyof space for guests.  My email is private_holtze@yahoo.com.

I was overwhelmed by the reunion.  Our class includes doctors, lawyers, teachers, writers, professors, businessmen and women, speech therapists. veterans of the army and navy, and others who made their marks on the second part of the last century and this one.  We have husbands, wives, partners, and children, grandchildren, too, and some have remained independent and proud.

We were good people and continue to be good people.  My wish to all....stay well, do good, and come to the 60th reunion.  Thanks to Evie and the committee.

Thanks to Evie and the entire committee for an amazing event. It being Shaker, my expectations were high, but you surpassed them in every dimension. I look forward to seeing all  at the next reunion.

Having travelled the farthest, I think! although Judi Bachman might have surpassed me to get to the 50th, I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED.  Except I think the event should be for a WEEK...HA HA...there  were so many people there with whom I would have liked to spend so much MORE time...Anne Petty being one among many.

It was "Hobson's Choice" on Saturday night...where to sit, where was there an empty seat?  Again I was a grasshopper among the industrious ants who had some kind of plan...all of whom just sort of did what came naturally...and I ended up sitting  with Joe Owens (we go back a long way) and that mensch among men, Doug Heinlen...for whom I carried a torch for at least 10 years after high school...ALL WAS FINE!   Both of them had been taught by my most remarkable mother at Onaway.  But there were a number of other tables at which I would have been to delighted to sit.  Oh, I should mention that I was also sitting next to Stenson White's second wife of 37 years...I noticed that Stenson, originally sitting next to me, swapped places...understandably...she was a sweetheart!  It was a judicious move.  In truth, my table companions were varied...an that's just like I LIKE it!

AND I was in the loo whilst the Moreland photo was being taken...usually my timing is better than that.  The egotistical/nostalgic part of my nature kicked in, and I collared the photographer and begged him to take a pic of me that could be "photoshopped" into the Moreland photo.  I think, as usual, I'm in airy fairy land...but I LIKE it there...so many possibilities...if it happens, it happens...but I was certainly there in spirit...even though I was on "the pot",

Evie, you and your committee could NOT have done a better job.  That tenderloin of beef had to be the best I've tasted in YEARS!  Tom Osher singing (so well and so poignantly) was a master stroke.

Even though I suffer severe balance problems due to a compressed cervical spinal chord (hopefully an upcoming op will put that right...at the moment the chord looks like a string of sausages) I was totally unable to resist shakin'  my ample "booty" towards the end of the evening when the classics of the mid-60's started playing.  Those of you who were videoing on your smartass smartphones could probably make a lot of money out of me...BLACKMAIL!   But I could not resist.  I just thanked God I was wearing knickers that night, often don't...I like air around my private parts...if I came a cropper! landed on my arse???modesty would be preserved! and no one would have a truly horrible indelible memory.

Ken Johnson took me home (Barbara Saltzman's flat near Shaker Square) as he did the night before...but Saturday night I REMEMBER his taking me home - Friday's venue did me in...it was dark, ambience-lacking, and I (I always have an excuse for my bad behaviour) have no recollection of what happened after Kim Ritchie bought me my last drink...so if I offended any of you, or you were just embarrassed on my behalf, sweet classmates, my dear Barbara wouldn't let me go to bed without drinking two full glasses of water and listening to me repeat myself.  My God!  I have some WONDERFUL friends...and Ken is the one who got me home...my white bearded knight in shining armour, his white horse in the form of a cute little red car.

As usual I am incapable of the succinct comment.  This is far too long, and, as usual, I make no apologies???you can always stop reading???like you can turn off the radio or the television.

Anybody, among our dear classmates, who wants to get in touch with me:  here is my email address:  PRich71686@aol.com.

The number of people with whom I had just about a nano-second of communication is myriad...IT'S NOT ENOUGH!  It would be invidious to name all the people with whom I wanted to talk longer.  YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!

Just like to say the exorbitant airfare to get me to Shaker Heights, having decided so late in the day to attend...which also gave me no time for "self-improvement in terms of my avoir du pois" was worth every penny and pound.  I have delicious memories, had delicious moments...Bonnie Beran...you've been preserved in "aspic"...just the same lovely generous person you always were...and there were so many others - Phyllis Hammer...the list of people with whom I reconnected is too damn long.  IT WAS A GREAT EVENING...full stop!

Dick Prentke, although somewhat diffident about HIS 50th a year ago, changed his tune, and encouraged me to go to OURS.  I would have regretted not coming/going....and so he said...and so he proved COMPLETELY RIGHT.

AND I was at last allowed entry into the hallowed ground of Shaker Heights Country Club...probably got the name of this hallowed establishment wrong...like I really care!

i was not impressed with their swimming pool...not Olympic sized..I can swim for free...being over 60, at Ironmonger Row....regularly, of late, trying to get fit, swimming 30 lengths...working up to a mile.  I love the water:  having so much adipose tissue on my body - I CAN'T SINK...BUT MY AUSTRALIAN CRAWL IS AS SMOOTH AS MOLASSES/SILK!

It does seem time, no matter how many people I LOVED seeing, to bring my usual too long message to an end.  The reunion had not only great moments, but also the fleeting sense of  life/time...God almighty...how could time fly by that quickly.

I end this with a fond farewell to all of you.  It was such a pleasure to reconnect...but all too short a pleasure.  I don't like "pleasures cut short" ....soooo once again, I send you my Email address:  PRich71686@aol.com.  Please, if the spirit moves, Dan Lesnick, in particular...and darling "Dirty Pierre", Willy Kahrl...Bob Taliaferro etc....be in touch!

With such great affection,

Patty

Patty,

I was so thrilled to see you and give you a hug!  I kept asking people, "Is Patty Richards here? Did Patty Richards come?" There you were Saturday night, looking drop dead gorgeous! Love you, girl!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to the Shaker 64 reunion committee for planning such a terrific weekend. I will hold all the wonderful memories close to my heart. Loved every minute of each event, just wish I had had more time to see and visit with more classmates. Till we meet again, stay well, keep smiling and enjoy every minute.

Dana Shepard (Treister)

Evie and reunion committee~

Not much for me to add after skimming the comments of those who weighed in before me!  I had a blast, and my husband Michael had a blast, too.  All three events were so well planned, and never seemed at all "redundant".  After the excitement of first seeing those fabulous nametags with our names in a BIG clear font and the BIG"before" pictures, and first seeing the only-slightly-familiar-looking people wearing them around their necks; AND that fun Saturday lunch at the Lomond table -- I wondered if Saturday evening would be anticlimactic.  Nope!  Not at all!

Thank you, thank you, thank you - AND to all of my classmates who attended and shared the wondrous time-warp adventure with me.

Not sure how long this website will be active, and I'm not on facebook - perhaps there is some way to share email addresses, without having them "go viral" beyond the eyes of SHHS 64?

DANA

Marianne Coplan (Schapiro)

Of course, I echo all of the previous comments--even Patty's stream-of-conscience discourse.  It definitely could have gone a few more days; I'm just now discovering that people I'd wanted to see--Andrea Berman, Lauren Brahms--were there and I didn't even know it!  Even coming down to breakfast at the hotel--completely filled with mostly familiar faces--was kind of a sensory/memory overload--in the best way!

I will also add my "Bravo" to Evie and the committee for their tireless work--I too loved the pill boxes--so clever and fun--and I'm still savoring the popcorn balls from Euclid Beach.

I do hope that we will have access to the professional photos--especially the feeder school photos--and that this website will continue to live on.  It's really been a terrific way to keep in touch and reminisce with everyone.

Finally, thanks to Cheryl Kushner for actually making a few of us sing an old choir song; next time, I promise to bring music--and maybe we can drum up a piano somewhere to accompany us!

Cheers to all for a great rest of the summer!--Marianne

Fun reading all of these.  Yes Patty I have you beat by 593.5 miles or in my lingo 955 km....But the distance was well worth it.

Anyone coming this way is welcome.  My contacts  private_holtze@yahoo.com  , I also have a magic jack tel nr which is a US number 619 488 2510.  Just remember the time difference starting at 6 hours eastern time and progressing to 9 for those in San Diego. No I do not have skype. Hope to see some of  you one of these days.

Evie Fertman (Braman)

The committee and I are all so happy that everyone had such a wonderful time!  Thanks so much for your compliments both on the Class Forum and to my personal email.  I think that one of the best comments was one I heard over and over - spouses and guests of our class told me that they had never had as much fun at the own reunions!!

Go to www.ProEventPhoto.com to see and to order still photos of the Reunion.

For fourty years I have been using the pill holders like the ones that you received at the Reunion to carry jewelry around in when I travel - it keeps your chains from tangling and your earrings from hooking onto other jewelry - give it a try!

Remember when we took the Rapid from the ends of the line to Shaker Square and it was 10 cents?  And a quarter to go all the way downtown?  I took a Rapid from Green Road to downtown about ten years ago and it was $2,25 - I think that I was in shock for the whole ride!

It's been a whole week since our reunion and I just can't stop thinking about how wonderful everything  was......Evie and the committee did such an outstanding job. I will cherish the memories always!  Hope we can still stay in touch through this website.  Have a great rest of the summer everyone.

You and the whole committee  rock Evie.  It was the best weekend of all time.  It was so great to see so many classmates I haven't seen in, well, fifty years.  And to think, none of us have changed a bit.  Let's do it again in 5.

Thank you Evie and cohorts for having done such a great job of assembling such a refreshing weekend for we hundreds of reunionites.

That's refreshing from being guided back to days of our callowness and innocense.  That's refreshing in looking back at what seemed important then, and being clarified with our clearer, wiser eyes.

I've been feeling more youthful, for some ineffable reason, since the party.  Refreshed.  Might just let that continue...

Thanks again, Organizers, for this enriching experience.  I vote for a 55th.

Stu

What a fantastic week-end.  All the previous posts certainly reinforce the success of our reunion.  I'm sure there aren't many reunions that could compare!

In addition to Evie and the Committee, I'd also like to thank the administrators of this great website that, I believe, was instrumental in getting the impressive turnout we had. I hope it can continually be updated and added to.

Thanks to everyone who attended. It was great reuniting with classmates I haven't seen for years.  For the classmates that weren't able to attend, perhaps you'll be able to make it next time.

Wishing good health & happiness to all!

Ellen

I sat next to Judy Bachman at the Reunion.  In exchanging updates, she said that she lived in Copenhagen.  As I was going there on the 8th, she met me when I arrived and had me over on the 12th to get me to the plane on the 13th.  This is her at her house welcoming a vagrant.  Shaker spirit, yes!
