MARIE BUTLER Obituary (The Plain Dealer)

Marie Butler (née Piazza), an avid golfer who worked in the Mayfield Country Club pro shop, died Nov. 18 at age 64. She learned to play later in life and scored a hole-in-one. Mrs. Butler held various positions over the years, including lecturing for Weight Watchers. She also ran a home-based business, The Bagel Butler, selling 36 bagels on her first day and around 350,000 bagels in the fifth year, when she sold the company.

Mrs. Butler enjoyed playing mah jongg, attending art shows, making pottery, and other creative pursuits. She often made fresh flower arrangements and centerpieces for her home and helped her daughters organize and decorate their houses. With food items, bottles and cans, she set up a pretend “store” for her young grandchildren to play in.

I met Marie the summer going into 7th grade, hanging out at Kinsman Lee bowling alley. From that day on we were best friends. We never missed a day of hearing from each other. (This was before cell phones). She was a wonderful person, loving mother, and a fabulous friend. We felt like sisters. She is never out of my thoughts, I miss her every day.
