I got to know Bob in high school as we were in the same homeroom and both sought out desks in the back row – allowing us to maximize the distance to Dr. Deutsch and the post-adolescent social activity that dominated the front of the classroom.  We found we both enjoyed dry and/or dark humor and shared a skepticism of the suburban values and lifestyle many of our classmates were embracing.

I last saw Bob  a few years after graduation when he was in the Pick-n-Pay at Van Aken shopping center where I had a summer job.  He was working as a DJ on a late night FM station and let me hear how he did his program and station ID.

I would have loved to see Bob at the reunion and am sorry to hear of his passing.  He would likely appreciate how the social structure of early 1960s Shaker Heights has persisted for half a century.

Bob was my cousin.  We used to have family parties and I always enjoyed his humor.  There were three of us, Bob, Mike Liff, and me, all in the same class.  I will miss seeing him, too.
