good to get some info. Thanks

Eviemdo,u have a hotel, price for thursday?  Flights from europe arrive late afternoon east coast time.  Need a day to recover.   Or even make it with connections from point of entry.

Also what time is the dinner on friday.

Amazed u still ask for checks!  Would think bank transfer would be a lot easier.  No running to the bank or waiting for checks to clear. the US must be the only country in the world that still  uses them!  I have some somewhere....

Really hoping to make it.   But flights were mostly sold old two weeks ago... and return flights even worse, this is the peak of the tourist season.   Fingers crossed.  And i do hope to see everyone.

Sorry for delay in posting this, but we lost another class member. Veronica Pratt (Pierce) passed away on March 9 2016 at the Beachwood Pointe Hospice. We were best friends since 9th grade at Woodbury and shared the same birthday. We got together regularly whenever I was in Cleveland up until just prior to her passing. Her obituary was posted in The Plain Dealer on March 16th and 17th, 2016. I do plan to attend the reunion -- not positive yet, but hopeful.

Thanks for posting the very sad news of Veronica Pratt's death.  Do you by any chance have an obituary to share for Veronica?

Thanks a lot,

Your committee is looking forward to seeing you all!!

Let me add my appreciation for all the work you and your committee have done and will do.  Both my wife and myself are looking forward to the first weekend in August.  Is there any chance you can acknowledge haveing received our check? Bank says yes, but your note would be appeciated.

May I suggest a list of those that have paid and publish it on our forum. Such action might just avoid some problems at registration.

Dana Shepard (Treister)

Great suggestion, Stewart, for Evie to post on this page a running list of paid reservations received.  Not only would this confirm to each of us receipt of the check (no disrespect meant to USPS, but we all know it is no longer super-reliable...); but also it might serve as a reminder to those who perhaps meant to send a check but have not yet done so; and might also encourage classmates still undecided to say "YES" and join the celebration.

AND - again - a huge THANKS to Evie for all her creativity and organizational efforts our our behalf, to give is this opportunity to enjoy a 5-year reunion - BRAVA!!

I echo all the previous comments. Hope many are coming!

If Evie posted a list of checks received we would also be able to know who will be coming to the reunion.  For our 50th individuals posted on their profile that they were attending.  Wouldn't you like to know who is planning on coming?

For anyone that read the book LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE by Celeste Ng have you heard that Reese Witherspoon and Kerry Washington are filming an adaption for Hulu?

I just read about the film. I hope it is on more than Hulu. What a great book!

Thanks to Evie and her committee for arranging this loevely weekend just past.

I am sure many others feel the same way as I do.

And thanks to those who came to my talk. We had around 80 people there, not all members of the class of 1964.  If anyone did not get a copy of the handout while there or you were unable to attend there is a longer version I would be happy to send you.

Please just email me and I will sned it to you. Then just print it out. I added a couple of pages on sources for the history of the development of Shaker Heights which may also be of interest.

All the best

Joe Blake

I second Joe's THANKS to Evie and committee for arranging last weekend's reunion - I so appreciated the opportunity to reconnect with "my past"!  Both evenings were low-key, conversation-friendly - in spaces arranged to maximize circulating and conversing.

THANKS also to Joe for scheduling his library presentation about "the Vans" while his SHHS 64 classmates were in town. As I told Joe, the BIGGEST take-away for me was learning that the Vans knew that building "the Shaker Rapid Transit" was the key to the viability of a new community way out on the Shaker Lakes!  I lived in Shaker Heights my entire life (until high school graduation), spent 13 years in the Shaker schools, and don't recall ever learning that fascinating factoid!

AND - thanks for the memories, everyone!

DANA

And my thanks as well. So good to see all who came and missed all who couldn't attend. Just a reminder that Evie has to put out personal expenses on down payments for venues and to keep website going. How should we handle support for Evie?

08/06/19 05:29 PM #875

Evie Fertman (Braman)

Hi to everyone!  Thanks, Betsy for your comments!  We definitely need a reasonably positive balance in our checkbook for several reasons.  1) To pay annual fees for this web site 2) To pay annually for the domain name and 3) To put down downpayments to secure the venues for the Reunions.  We had enough for me to take a advantage of paying for our web site for the cost of four years and receiving five years if I paid in advance which I did making us okay for four and a half more years.  The domain name is only about $16.00 a year.  We had enough this year to pay minimums to secure the venues but will not have enough for the next Reunion.  There are several ways to handle this - Alan Cohen, Steve Joseph, Terri Gelb Kline, Susan Skolnik Haimes, John Feher and Betsy Dennis Franks wrote significant checks contributing to our bank account (much appreciated), several others added a bit to their checks for the Reunion, and in the future I can ask the committee members to pay REALLY early to get to the amount that we need.  If we needed me to, I would put my own money down but I prefer not to have any reimbursement check written to me to avoid any possible questions as to where our money is going!  I have a debit card for the account and use that for everything which is great for record keeping!  I have the account on a Quicken file and I have the monthly bank statements so there is very accurate recording of all money coming in and all money going out.  I asked Brooke Matthews Wolf and Jim Wolf to meet me at the bank when we opened this account and the account is in all three of our names with equal privileges. My attorney is aware that this account is not part of my estate so all is safe in case something happens to me.

I'm glad that this came up so that everyone now knows how we are handling the money end of the Reunions!!

Evie
